FIGHTING CONTEST RULES ((OOC))
This is an rp fighting contest event.
With apologies and respects to all our elf -hobbit roleplayers, no elves would be accepted to participate in the fights. Hobbits will only be allowed in the archery contest (if there is enough interest for one). You are welcome to come to the fights, bet and trade of course.
Participants in melee fights will be divided into fighting pairs.
The winner of each fight proceeds to the next round.
Each fight can conclude up to 8 emotes for each participant (to a total of 16 for both) so the fights will have a reasonable length and not last for ever. After 8 emotes (16 in total) the referee will end the fight.
Participants are expected to be in a fellowship together along with a referee. The fight's result will be decided upon a single /roll at the beggining of the fight.
All participants are considered equal in strength, there will be no modifications for the /roll result (except as noted below for female characters), unless BOTH contesting players agree on using such a modification. Remember that you can lose a fight for many reasons, you can be bested, outsmarted, tricked, paid off, or you can simply have bad luck, maybe your gear failed you. A fighter is not the one who wins, a fighter is the one who fights.
All melee weapons and armour are allowed. If both players wish for a brawl then they can fight without weapons. In character the winner will be the FIRST WHO DRAWS BLOOD or the first to put the back of his opponent on the ground unless both contesting players agree on other winning terms (death or surrender) in game.
You are kindly requested to consider well your character's abilities and equipment before joining the contest. This is majorly a male rp-character contest. Participation of female characters will only be considered if they actually roleplay a warrior character. Ladies please don't come to fight in a dress.
Female characters who wish to compete in melee with male characters group should accept a -25 on their rolls.
For the duration of the event the area of the Arena and the settlement of Ost Forod are considered guarded. Please do not disturb the fights during the contest. Outside the area of Ost Forod participants might do as they like.
Visitors are expected to enter the Arena from the south gate. Contestants, healers and the referee will enter from the east gate.
The winning prizes will be in-game gold (1st 30g, 2nd 10, 3rd 5g, Archery Winner 5 g). You can get an idea about how much money this by checking our Price List at this link
http://laurelinarchives.org/node/9051
People may bet on the winner of each fight. Bets won't be in in-game gold. You can bet on the fighter you wish at the referee before the fight begins and after the names of the contesting pair are announced.
New to roleplaying? Check the short guide for roleplaying
http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/A_%22short%22_guide_to_role-play
In our roleplay in Ost Forod we will be using the game's lore about the settlement as given in the Lorebook
http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Landmark:Ost_Forod
Ost Forod is a lvl 30+ area. If you need your small alt to be escorted to Ost Forod OOCly give us a few days notice (send game mail or /tell) to help you out.
The people who plan to take part as referees or contestants, healers are requested to contact Rinni or Guvadan oocly, through in-game or LA mail or /tell before the beginning of the event (Nov 30) so the pairs of contestants will be arranged.
The fights will take place at the Ost Forod Arena (7.0 S, 63,8 W) after 8.00 UK time. The event might be prolonged or the starting time might change if there are too many fighters.
If there is enough interest (around 5) we will arrange an ARCHERY CONTEST.
Bows are allowed only. Hobbits may participate in such a contest. Even if your character cannot equip a bow you can still of course roleplay having one. The Archery Contest will take place after the melee fights. It will be done in groups of 5, the best of each group will proceed to the next round. A referee will be apointed to each group. The winner will be determined from a single /roll at the beginning of each round. Each archer gets 2 emotes when it is their turn to shoot with the bow. No modifications will be applied to the roll.
The names of the contestants will be posted if possible a few days before the event starts.
For the fellow Referees
1. The referee gets in fellowship with the pair of contestants (out of character)
2. The referee asks the conteastors if they wish for a variation of a fight ( a brawl, a fight to death or a fight with modified rolls). Both contestants should agree to have a variation of a fight. (out of character). Otherwise the referee will apply the rules described above.
3. The referee enters the arena with the contestants (in character)
4. The referee /shouts at the audience if there are any bets. The bets are placed. (in character, optional)
5. The referee asks the contestants if they are ready (in character)
6. The referee asks the contestants to /roll (out of character) twice. The first roll determines who plays first. The second roll determines who wins the fight.
7. The referee stands aside and watches the fight. If there is any severe injury during it the referee can ask the injured contestant if he wants to yield. (in character)
8. The referee ends the fight (after 8 emotes for each contestant maximum) and announces the winner. The referee asks if any of the contestants require a healer. (in character)
The same rules will apply for the Archery Contest. Of course steps 7 and 8 do not apply. Each archer gets 2 emotes when it is their turn to shoot with the bow. The /roll result of each player is his/her score. The Referee anounces the score after each shot, and the winner in the end.
Keep in mind to take notes of the bets and fight results.
Thank you all!
