Letter from Angamaytë, Ivanneth 24th, 3004 (T.A.)

By the light of Eru The Creator and the protection of Ulmo Lord of Waters, his servant Angamaytë writes these words:

Dear friend:

How much time will you spend on such folly?.  Is it not enough to throw away your estate and your reputation?, must you also waste your life away?.

I understand as well as anyone the burden a Vow of Vengeance carries, I am also aware of the duty you hold, your House and your Ancestors honour.  Believe me when I say that your duty is as well as fulfilled, that name you seek is no more, most assuredly it passed from this land into oblivion.  The better you can hope for by now is to kill an old and wasted man, and there is little honour in such a deed.

Grow up my friend, what was permissible on a young boy is only folly and madness in a grown man. Give up your obsession and take notice of your future or you will have none.

There were harsh words spoken against you in the last council meeting, they speak of sedition and treason, they say you incite rebellion (of course you are fool) and the Mordorin envoy is asking  for your head on a pike. Please be careful and watch your tongue, things are turning awfully serious in here and your forefathers name won't shield you anymore.

I know this letter must seems rude and impolite to you, but it is as such because I care for you and hold great affection to you and your House. For the last time I implore you: Go no further and come back to the city.

(Signed plainly by Angamaytë)
