Dearest Mum,
I hope this finds you and all the family well. I am excited to write to you today! I recently met a lot of my neighbors here in Oldfurlong when Mrs. Toadflax Nosely called a meeting. Pies were served and we all had a very good time, and as it happens me an' Miz Allegretta Aleford is now the official...well...clerks, I suppose, of Oldfurlong. Mostly this means we will be writing a lot of letters to Mr. Peppy at the Gazette I think (who is a real gentlehobbit and very well spoken).
We also talked about some ideas for the neighborhood and I proposed a fish n' fry, because that were my favorite thing we all used to do together. So we are setting that for the end of June and it should be a very good time!
I forgot to say that although Missus Nosely assures us there ARE some lads around, every single hobbit but one who turned up to the meet was a lass! So if Dad was still worried about me being on my own you can let him know that I think this place is just perfect (and I am sure Mrs. Nosely would put a quick stop to any untoward behavior!)
In the meanwhile I cannot wait to get your next letter. You hinted that there may be some big news coming up soon, so I am eager to hear all about it!
