(A massive thanks goes to Andarne for making this easier version of the Book of Turindriel, readers can leave me a message through Laurelin Archives if they wish to read the full version.)
Herein lies the records of the friend named Loor Elithen. This record, given by permission, is written in the hand of Forgamthan, Scholar of the Lord Elrond.
Foreword
To you, dear reader of this document, I give the tale of Loor Elithen; whom has asked for it to be recounted. The short words I lay to this scroll, come from his mouth; to me, as I sit and listen to the tale of a friend many years my Elder. They are my account of his life.
Dated of the First Age of Arda
587 of the third Season
Loor Elithen was born fifty years prior to this day; and his childhood was plagued War; for Morgoth Bauglir, the Dark Enemy, lay siege to Beleriand. His parents slain in the early days of the last year of the War of Wrath, Loor wandered helpless and lost in the wilds of Estoland.
Upon the final ending of the War of Wrath, and after the destruction of Beleriand by the Sea; Loor now wandered through the lands of the Laiquendi, into Ered Luin new. Here, he was saved by a caravan of his kin; working their way East, to the new settlements of Middle-earth.
Dated of the Second Age of Arda
1 of the first Season
After travelling with the caravan for some months, into the Second Age of this world; Loor came at last to Mithlond; where the land was ruled by Círdan. For a further one thousand and six hundred years, he was educated by the Scholars, Swordsmen and Tutors of Lindon. Yet when word came out of the East, that a new refuge had been born; Loor left his adoptive home for this new land.
He arrived in the land of Imladris in the year 1698, and dwelt with the Lord Elrond Half-elven for a further year, until the Siege of Imladris; where Sauron, faithless and accursed, spilled his black horde upon the land.
Loor was one of many who assisted in the Siege, offering aid to those in need; and tactics to the guard. In the year 1700 of the Second Age, the assault was lifted; and Loor assisted in the restoration of the land; growing tree's in memory and honour of the fallen kindred.
He was to dwell here for another one thousand and thirty to seven hundred years. It was in the year of 3430 of the Second Age, the Last Alliance of Men and Elves was formed; yet Loor did not join them; for he favoured not the way of warfare.
For the remainder of the Second Age, he lived in Imladris; helping the wounded that returned from Mordor and abroad, and tending the groves of the fallen of the past.
Dated of the Third Age of Arda
2 of the First Season
The Third Age beckoned to Loor; and with a heavy heart, he left Imladris for Eastern lands. The knowledge that the forces of Arnor would be close-by kept his spirits high. Yet, unbeknownst to him at that time, Isildur was slain during the journey.
Loor came to the borders of Lothlórien, which was now guarded by Celeborn and his Lady, Galadriel. The forest reached to the northern edge of Rohan; and the walls of Moria of the East. As kindred Elf, he was allowed passage; under guard, though, to the rulers of the realm; where he pledged his experience and loyalty to the land.
Since that day, Loor has travelled little; yet offered aid to those whom he comes across. His oath to Galadriel and Celeborn, strong and proud; he will not waver 'tll the Dagor Dagorath, as he says to me.
Now, I lay aside my pen; for there are no more words to recount. The tale of Loor Elithen, child of Woe, comes to and end for this scroll. Yet, since I last saw him; I know that deeds aplenty he has accomplished, and I am proud to have known him.
Signed,
Forgamthan
(This was written days before Loor became corrupted).
