Tosie had been lingering in her bedroom when she heard someone knocking. She put aside her journal and brass quill, assuming that Ildrand had decided to come by. She got up and opened the door with only a sheet wrapped around her slender form, not at all expecting to come face to face with Corrben. He pushed the door open and looked down at her, his eyes roaming downwards. She took a step back, frowning at him as she hugged her sheet tighter against her, looking at the Watcher with a mixture of anger and confusion.
Corrben looks up quickly, a brief but tired smile on his lips, "I brought back the..." He gestured to the box under his arm. "Can I come in or are you expecting company?"
Tosie let him in, not at all wanting to and wishing that Ildrand had stayed the night, or that Ealbrand was home.
Corrben steps inside, taking a deep breath, his eyes moving around the room. He looks at her and then glances over her head. "Well, here." He hands her the box, the drawings and letters still in place, Meredith's doll nestled on top. It is clean and without dust, clinging to it.
Tosie took the box and turned around, walking over to the table. She took the letters and drawings out, leaving the doll in the box as she went over to the fireplace, tossing the papers into the flames. She watched it briefly, ignoring the memories that suddenly seemed too overwhelming, and she walked back to the table.
Corrben watches her, his jaw tensing and he sighs deeply. "Yeah, that about sums it up." She took the doll out and picked up the box, walking back and shoving it at him in annoyance.
He takes the box and rolls his shoulders back, "I get it, you're pissed." He looks at her, "You have a right to be, I know the feeling." Tosie pointed at the door and simply continued to wear a blank expression.
"How've you been, other than...the obvious?"
Tosie raises her eyebrows, as if it were the stupidest question she'd ever heard. She then glared at him, shrugging her shoulders and giving a rather disgusted look. He suddenly wished to know how she was doing, or if she was alright? She was none too happy, and kept wishing the door would open and her brother would walk in.
Corrben griamces slightly, "Don't tell me you're fucking that fat slob, Berrywine. One of the lad saw you at the Pony together with him, some how thought it was my business to hear about it."
Tosie 's jaw dropped and she glared angrily at him. And suddenly she had slapped him square across the cheek. As if being fat was somehow worse than being a bigoted jerk, she thought, and if Ildrand was anything he certainly wasn't sloppy or messy.
Corrben takes the slap and turns his head to look at her, "Right...I'll take that as a yes. Be careful with him, he's a dodgy bastard." She was satisfied after noting she had left a fat red mark. Tosie looked as if she might slap him again, but just pointed at the door angrily. He shrugged, "It's your body." He turns on his heel and walks out the door, his cheek still red from her slap.
She slammed the door behind him and stomped back into her bedroom, fuming. She was sure he would have arrested her for assault, and assault on a Watcher especially. She had almost wanted him to, but she doubted he'd admit to his Watcher friends that he lost her to someone older, and not as fit. Sitting on her bed, she picked up her journal to write Ildrand a note, letting him know that she would not be coming around the Pony for a little while due to 'being sick'.
