Finally happy

Kris woke up, his eyes barely opened from their sleepy slumber but immediately shot open when he noticed his vision was clear. He blinked and reached up to touch his eye, he felt no scar. He looked at his left hand and wiggled his fingers. He took a breathe, no pain. He sat up slowly and felt a light slap on the back of his head, as he looked back he saw a sight that made him lose his breathe. Caliko stood over him with a smile “Hey! Figured I’d find you sleepin here! Come on, we should head to the market and meet Gwaed!” Kris blinked and slowly stood up, he ran to Caliko and hugged him. Caliko laughed “quit being weird!” Kris stepped back “Caliko..how!” Caliko tilted his head “You have a bad dream or something?” Kris stared at him “The...the worst.” He looked around, he felt like out of place. Caliko laughed again “you’ll have to tell me about it sometime!” Caliko turned “now let’s go!” Kris followed slowly “You wouldn’t believe it..”. As they walked into the town square, he was the people, dressed to their class and just socializing. Gwaed ran up to them, Kris felt his legs lose feeling “Gwaedhiel..” she smiled at him as she stopped and put her arm around Calikos  shoulder “So what trouble are you two stirring now?” Caliko smirked “haven’t figured it out just yet!” Kris felt tears begin to well up in his eyes. Gwaed and Caliko stopped their smiling and frowned with concern “Kris? Are you alright?” Gwaed walked up to him and placed a hand on his cheek, Caliko put his hands in his pocket and walked up “You’ve been acting really off since I found you. Did you hit your head?” Gwaed reached up  to place a hand on kris’s forehead “you sick?” Kris shook his head, it felt so real. Maybe..maybe all of what I thought I lived was just a dream. He smiled up to them “No..I’m just happy and grateful.” They spent the rest of the day at the market, Caliko swiping apples as he walked. As the sun set, they sat at the pier, watching the merchants sail away. He felt the cool breeze in his hair, the smell of the sea. He watched as the sun slowly lowered. He looked to Caliko, who was smiling to him “Kris.” Kris nodded “yes?” Caliko reached over and placed a hand on his head “I’m sorry but not yet.” Kris blinked and suddenly he felt a cold drop of water hit his face, he reached up and touched it, he looked at his finger at the water. He suddenly started feeling more and more drops. As he looked up from his hand, he saw Caliko begin to fade. He reached out and felt a cold chill. As he grasped he fell forward..he looked down at the mud, he looked at the wrapped up hand and the scarred fingers. He felt the rain beating on the back of his head. He breathed heavily and sighed. “It was a dream..” he fell to a sit. He began to cough into his hand. How long was he alseep? It felt like it was forever. Kris slowly stood up, he wobbled a bit. “Not yet..” he mumbled to himself as he walked slowly over to his horse.
