You Have to Be

You Have to Be

By Zurri

Some nights he's coming to me,

He stands in the shadows wearing a face of glee,

And he says; "You got wounded for she?"

Laughs then, perches where I lie,

Where my scars are healed but my hurts don't fly,

And he says; "Won't you e'er rise?"

Can't reply, I'm choked by dread,

"S'why you were absent from my deathbed,"

And I cry; he haunts my head.

Envy that peaceful place where,

All are truly free.

Through the stone rows where all is fair,

Curse yourself 'cos you have to be.

Bandaged and broken, but hardly afraid,

Save for when he visits me when he should rest in his grave,

And I yell; "I can be brave!".

The old dwarf smiles, shakes for no,

"There's so much pain that you're yet to know."

And I wake; but not from my woe.

Who to tell? That I see visions,

That spectres mock me for my poor decisions,

And I'll despair; it's all I'll ever envision.

Envy that peaceful place where,

All are truly free.

Through the stone rows where all is fair,

Curse yourself 'cos you have to be.
