Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions
40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic? I prefer to think of myself as realistic. The age old adage of preparing for the worst while hoping for the best is a pleasant piece of advice that holds some truth, and hope is a valuable commodity, but not one that I overly depend on.
41. What is your greatest fear? Growing old, if I'm to indulge my vanity. She smiles passively as she examines her porcelain fingers and the and the dirt lightly staining her nails. Though I hate being predictable, and withering away is such an expected thing to be afraid of. I'd have to say orcs. I came across one, dead, but I will not forget it.
42. What are your religious views? Strange question, I'm sorry, I don't quite understand what you mean, though.
43. What are your political views? My political views. Eodette laughs. I'm afraid I'm not a participant of that sport.
44. What are your views on sex? Eodette's brows narrow just slightly at her most curious visitor. You're not entitled to all my thoughts, tread lightly.
45. Are you able to kill? We all are.
46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do? Betrayal. True betrayal. If you know that someone has your utmost trust and you make a decision against them that you have no good reason for, knowing full well that they will suffer the consequences of your actions - why, I think there's very little in the world I despise more in a person.
47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love? I haven't thought about it. It seems an unlikely notion doesn't it?
48. What do you believe makes a successful life? Giving yourself purpose. Some invest in their work, others in their King, and some put their future into their children. I think it's a privilege that many people take for granted, in fact. Some people live day to day, barely able to feed themselves or clothe themselves beyond rags and patches of leather for shoes. They won't live a successful life, not without help.
49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)? As I said, you aren't entitled to all of me. I choose what I say and I say what I mean. I'm not against dishonesty but I have very little reason to hide behind it in regards to this sort of thing.
50. Do you have any biases or prejudices? Perhaps there was a time when I did.
51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Probably. Let me think a moment. Eodette lifts her chin in speculation, her fingertips lightly drumming the arm of her chair. Sing for an audience, possibly?
52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)? There are a few things, and fewer people. It's a difficult question to answer. I don't think it's possible to know what you're willing to die for until you've been faced with the choice.
Part 5: Relationships With Others
53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? I've been told I have a certain coldness to my approach towards people. It isn't intentional but neither am I oblivious to it.
54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why? A man. 'Why' is my business.
55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why? I once was sure that if my mentor ever scolded me or said a word against me, I would shatter into a hundred pieces. That's a sort of respect, I'm certain.
56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Most of those I might call my friend are boarders who have come and gone from my care. My best friends, as you say, I'm not sure I've ever had one.
57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person. Perhaps.
58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened. Yes. It was a grand experience, verily. I'd recommend it to anyone.
59. What do you look for in a potential lover? Eodette gathers herself up from her chair, her arms shrugging a thick, lace shawl over her shoulders. That'll be enough questions for today, I think. I'll see you to the door.
