A meeting on the doorstep

After a long journey back from the East, I finally arrived in Rivendell, looking for a peaceful stay to rest my body and soul. The stars were numerous and bright, and the moon was already high over the elven valley. After I had a good time in Elrond’s Last House with fantastic food and music, I went out to join the place where I could stay for the night.

I only made a few steps out of the house, when I heard a sweet voice calling for me. It was a beautiful elf maiden, with a dwarf on her side. Both were looking at me, with a large smile. They introduced themselves as Linglorel from Mirkwood and Frimsi Gembeard from the Lonely Mountain. And they told me they were looking for a third person who would agree to join them in their journey to Thorin’s Hall. I don’t really know why I accepted their offer, but it was like if I knew I had to go with them. As I didn’t get some real sleep since a long time, we agreed to meet the next day, at the Hall of Fire.

After a good resting night, I went to our meeting place and I started to wonder if they would really come after all. But my doubts, quickly vanished when I saw the dwarf entering the room. We had a nice chat, talking about his homeland and my many voyages across Middle Earth. The elf joined us after a short time, and we decided to depart.

And this is how, I went on my first journey with companions, instead of having a peaceful time in Rivendell.
