Dru and Davamir made it to Bree, not catching sight of Furley once. They made rather good time, though the consequence of that was the exhaustion seeping in her bones.
"Either he veered off the road, toward some other area than the village itself...or he made it back far quicker than we did. Which is possible but.." Dru frowned, shaking her head as she looked around the town.
In truth, the village of Bree felt more dangerous than it had before. After Mahnik and his group nabbed and tortured her, holding her captive for weeks, perhaps months, she had never felt safe in Bree since. Davamir's proposal to return to Gondor felt safer, in truth.
"The things I do to keep fools safe from themselves..." She face-palmed, causing Davamir to quirk an eyebrow upward.
"I didn't say anything this time!" She wasn't sure if he said it to lighten her mood, but it worked. She lifted her head to give him a dull look before chuckling.
"Nay, you did not. Fortunately for you, you are not my only pest."
Dav frowned, though his eyes twinkled in a way she learned meant he wasn't actually pouting. "Here I thought I was special!"
She shook her head with a small smile before sighing. "Come on. We ought to look into whatever Miss Jewelweed and Mister Furley have gotten themselves into..."
"And perhaps we shall find Furley as well. If he has not gotten himself killed already."
She knew they needed rest, but she did not wish to stay in Bree any longer than required.
