At the Sign of the Limael's Vineyard (Every Friday; 2:00 & 7:00 PM)

For the last Friday of every month, Roleplayers of Laurelin allows its members to choose a location to relocate our 'At the Sign of the Prancing Pony' event series. As this is the last Friday of the week, today's 'At the Sign of...' event series will be held at Limael's Vineyard (Ered Luinas decided by Roleplayers of Laurelin's members!

This week's (February 28, 2025) hook:

Galasser Winelord, lord-vintner of Lindon, has departed for the Uttermost West upon the Straight Road!

Like any of the Elves that abandon this Middle-earth, Galasser has bequeathed many of his worldly goods to friends, family, and allies who yet remain east of the Sea. To Brethilwen, his former apprentice, he leaves: ‘the best of my First Age lots, counting among them barrels of the nosy ports of Menegroth, the whites of Brilthor, the honey-wine of the grapes of Hithlum, and—Elmendeya! Alae!—the claret I fermented with my own two hands in the shade of the willows of Dor Firn-i-Guinar! Drink them, Brethilwen, and recall to yourself my delight when grapes were beneath my feet, and wine was in my throat!’

Now, Brethilwen holds a toast to her old master, and retrieving from the ancient cellars of Limael’s vineyard her master’s bequest, she welcomes others among the Elves of Ered Luin to join her and drink to—and from!—Galasser’s memory. While the tidings of the Elves’ toast to Galasser are unlikely to reach the ears of peoples of distant lands, the Elves are well-known to bring travelling and wandering folk into their fold: Dwarves returning to their halls in the mountains, Men travelling on business to the Elves or the Dwarves, Hobbits who wandered a breath too far from the boundaries of the Shire, all are liable to be drawn to the banks of Limael’s Vineyard by the laments of the Elves of Ered Luin and the perfume of their heady wine….

What, Where, and When

‘At the Sign of the Prancing Pony’ is a weekly story-based roleplay event series held every Friday at 2:00 and 7:00 PM server-time which seeks to bring the community together under the roof of LOTRO’s Prancing Pony, with the event being relocated to an inn or tavern of the Roleplayers of Laurelin's Discord server’s community’s choice on the last Friday of every month.

Each event will include a unique story “hook”, and will be broken into two sessions or timeslots: an earlier session for EU players will begin at 2:00 PM server-time and a later session for NA players will begin at 7:00 PM server-time. It is possible and even likely that these sessions will overlap with each other!

Please note that these events will not feature a DM: you are free to run with the weekly hook as you choose, and to come as early or as late as you’d like.

Why

While roleplay in the Prancing Pony is nothing new, the intention of this event is to offer: 1) disparate members of the RP community a single time and place for RP, 2) new or inexperienced RPers a chance to RP and connect with other RPers, and 3) a launchpad for other adventures; consider using this event as a “lobby” for RP—maybe you can stop by the Pony to find a Ranger who will join you on a quest to banish brigands from your farm, a Dwarf-broker to clear your debts, or adventurers to join you on a treasure-hunt. Use this event as a means to develop your own stories!

How

Simply visit the Prancing Pony and start RPing! All roleplayers who attend this event and join the Roleplayers of Laurelin Discord server will get a chance at the ‘At the Sign of the Prancing Pony’ 150 gold giveaway, drawn every month!
