Youngest child of Langlas and Mithluin, Sindarin elves currently residing in Falathlorn.  Baranriel was conceived in the hopeful years at the beginning of the third age and has two elder brothers both of whom were killed in battle before she was born.  She delights in the natural world and, of course, the music she hears in the world around her.  Her mother, a scribe, wanted her daughter to follow her into a safe profession but Baranriel found sitting inside far too dull and soon found her calling as a hunter.  Although very young and against her parents wishes (they after all had already lost two children to the various wars in Arda) Baranriel joined Cirdan's force as they marched against Angmar in TA1975.  Thankfully, although involved in the battle, Baranriel was somewhat removed from the main field.  This first taste of battle taught her a number of things - she wasn't quite as good with her bow as she thought she was, evil should be confronted on every occasion and Glorfindel was very handsome.  She has had the equivalent of a teenage crush on him ever since.  We can only hope that age and experience will cure her of her youthful giddiness.
