Maark is a known person among farmers and woodsmen in and around Bree, and to some degree to the traders. His family farm Wintercress, have always done well due to several reasons, but mostly because of hard labor and the inherited knowledge how to take care of the land. Beside farming, Maark is also a acknowledged and skilled woodsman, where the forest around his farm are a testimony on how to take care and cultivate it for future generations. 

There are rumors, never confirmed or discussed, that Maark left Bree in his youth and went south for several years and then returned, where tiny bits of information have leaked, about trade caravans and lost wealth. But Maark is more known for the amount of sorrows that have plagued him, with both parents and siblings died way too early, about a wife and two children deaths due to sickness and ill accidents and few known relatives left to speak about. On the other hand, he have made many lasting friendships, due to his generosity and the ability to stretch far to help those who have little.
