Outward Appearance

Of mighty and proud bearing, Éoheort stands as any Man of the Riddermark - tall of height at nearly two meters, adorned with fierce eyes of blue and a proud face. His flaxen hair is kept long and tied behind his ears in Rohirric fashion, and a thick beard adorns his visage. Fair hues of ruddy red run across his cheeks, weathered from countless days beneath the sun of the Riddermark. His speech is marked with purpose and passion, that of a man who is valiant in the face of hardship.

The Rohirrim is clad in a sturdy hauberk of mail, adorned with gleaming gold and equine accents, with else colors of green and earthen brown, and weathered and worn from the recompense of many dangers. Heavy bracers and gauntlets protect his forearms, and thick greaved boots of the selfsame kind guard his lower legs. A cloak drapes from his shoulders, clasped with a brooch of the sun and patterned with heraldry of Rohan. Atop his head is worn a horse-tailed helm, worn proudly and without recoil, a symbol of valor and loyalty to the Riddermark.

At his side rest his sword, a trusted friend that has long been his companion. Of Eastfold make, its steel is keen as it is sturdy, and its hilt is wrapped in honed leather. Rohirric patterns are inlaid upon the blade, and its crossguard and pommel bear imagery of mighty horses and the sun above. He wields too a sturdy shield, adorned with the selfsame symbolism of Rohan, and a spear of ash and yew bow, found upon the saddle of his loyal horse and friend, Déorfola.

Background

Personality

A man of fierce bearing, with bold speech and a proud Eorlingas heritage, Éoheort is brave and proud, particularly of his homeland and his people. He is particularly fearless, and rarely shies away from facing threats or dangerous situations. He is adept at inspiring others, both in battle and out, and believes that honor and honesty are paramount to the lives of the Free Folk.

Éoheort has been called reckless before, and many see him as headstrong. He has been known to hold others to his somewhat high standards when it comes to honor, and he has little to no tolerance for liars or intentionally secretive folk. He is also prone to the fey mood common among the Rohirrim, and though it comes upon him primarily during battle, he can be roused to anger when insulted or slighted.

Éoheort does enjoy time alone or with close companions around a quiet fire and calm speech. He also seems to prefer his armor to what some would consider more comfortable garb.

History

Éoheort, Son of Éobrand, was born in T.A. 2991 in the Eastfold settlement of Aldburg. The eldest of four children, Éoheort grew up learning the ways of horsemanship from his father, a gifted horse-herd that bred many of Aldburg’s valiant steeds. He learned the way of the sword and shield as a boy, and he was gifted with a horse of his very own on his 12th birthday. Éoheort named him Déorfola, meaning “brave-foal” in the tongue of his people, and horse and rider soon became like brothers.

When Éoheort came of age in T.A. 3007, he entered the service of Éomer, son of the late Third Marshal of the Mark, Éomund. Wishing to do his part in defending his beloved country, he joined with Éomer's  éored, knowing that it was the most renowned and active of the Eastfold. On more than one occasion, Éoheort rode to the far reaches of the Eastemnet with the éored to guard against invaders and outlaws and in T.A. 3009 he accompanied the éored to Edoras, where he witnessed an audience between Éomer and Théoden King.

During his years of continued service in the éored of Éomer, Éoheort grew to become a valiant and fierce warrior, never shying away from the battle-fury that comes upon the warriors of the Mark. As a reward for his deeds, he was given a helm crested with great plumes of horse hair, and he pledged to lead his fellow riders through a bold example.

In T.A. 3013, Éoheort's younger brother Éomód, a rider in a smaller éored of the East-mark, was killed by orcs while patrolling near the borders of the White Mountains. Stricken with grief, Éoheort returned to Aldburg to mourn the passing of his brother, all the while swearing vengeance upon the orcs that felled his kin. With the blessing of Éomer, Éoheort and his younger sister Éohild, a shieldmaiden, took a company of riders from his éored and rode down the orcish host, slaughtering them upon the plains.

In the years since his brother’s passing Éoheort has continued to ride in the éored of Éomer, now with his sister counted among the riders. As Théoden King's health wanes and his rule weakened by the machinations of Gríma Wormtongue, Éoheort nevertheless strives to gain renown slaying those who threaten the Riddermark and remain loyal to the true spirit of the Eorlingas. With sword in hand and Déorfola to carry him, he rides each day with a determination worthy of the songs that fill the halls of Edoras.
