Fealuin was born in the early days of the westward march of the eldar. His parents, both very young at that time, chose therefore to remain in the eastern lands, and thus did not go to Valinor. Instead they ended up settling in Doriath, where Fealuin grew up and joined the Marchwardens, that protected the borders, and made sure none found passage into the realm of Thingol & Melian. Fealuin bore witness to many of the events that took place in the halls of the king, as he was oft seen wandering the halls of Menegroth, reading lore, and generally educating himself as much as possible. Given oft the task of messenger, Fealuin also learned much of what was going on outside Doriath, seeing both the lands of Ossiriand, Thargelion, and both east and west Beleriand. He also visited Nargothrond, though only a few times. What part Fealuin played, in the battle of Menegroth, when at last the kingdom of Doriath fell, little is known, he himself does not reveal much, but it is clear that this event has shaped him, and given him the haunted look he now wears. It may also explain his lack of interest in gold, jewellery and other possessions, he generally does not keep many belongings, but gives freely to any who is in need.
