Outward Appearance

Standing at approximately 6'3, Adermor Darkwold is a strong enough man, certainly strong enough to fight off the drunkards of Bree who decide to pick a fight with him. His face may have once been handsome, but now it possesses wrinkles, burns, and several scars that make his face ugly to behold. His hair is dark black with hints of grey, usually dampened and swept to one side. A stand out feature of his face is his abnormally large nose, which he is regularly mocked for.

A calm man; Adermor's temper used to be short but as of late and due to an increase in age, is no longer. The way he acts supposes that he is easy to talk to, and up for a jest, though recently he has learnt that whilst in Bree, a "laugh" can get him in deep trouble. He enjoys talk with strangers and learning (or trying to learn) their secrets. All in all, Adermor is a nosy man, forever wanting to know everything about everybody.

When found in Bree (usually the Prancing Pony Inn) Adermor can be seen clad in fine clothing, perhaps showing a hint of wealth. However more recently he has been travelling, and when seen on his travels wears typical weather-worn clothing ruined by mud and rain. On his travels he takes with him a backpack filled with various sorts of items needed for his travels, like maps, pans, wood and other provisions.

Either side of his waist are two weapons, a sword and a dagger. These two weapons bare no fancy tale, only that the sword was found in the Barrow Downs and the dagger made by an elf whom Adermor beat in a game of riddles. A funny tale if you heard it.

Old but strong, and clever whilst foolish at the same time. Adermor is both an average man and an interesting man, with many tales of his own life to tell. He is intelligent, strong and kind, but at the same time foolish, weak and mean.

Background

Adermor's tale is an interesting one. From conspirer to traveller, Adermor was once a dark man shrouded with mystery, and would only talk to those few he -really- knew.

It all started at the age of eight (earlier ages Adermor cannot remember) when he first reached the town of Bree alongside his Gondorian father and Bree-land mother, they had travelled all the way from the realm of Gondor and had finally reached their destination. Why had they travelled to Bree? They deemed Gondor unsafe and other factors too contributed towards their decision to move. Adermor's Gondorian father, Adermonre, was a wealthy man, as he had spent many of his days amongst the Gondorian guard and so acquired a fair amount of coin because of it. The family resided in a small home in Bree-town, the house's location was considered one of the more "respectable" parts of town.

The locals of Bree took a while to get used to the foreigners (bar Lucy, Adermor's mother), as they simply referred to the family as "the Gondorians". Though eventually the family did gain the locals respect. One night in the renowned Prancing Pony inn, a fight broke out (as usual), one thing lead to another and one of the nobles of the town was dragged into the fight. Being a noble, he had no idea how to fight, so Adermonre jumped into the mass brawl and saved the man, gaining his respect and all the other "well off" nobles of Bree. The simpletons of Bree now regarded Adermonre's family as "the noble Gondorians".

Years past as Adermonre's family were well respected amongst the citizens of Bree. Adermor enjoyed his teenage days, learning how to write, read, hunt, fight, and more. Adermonre took up hunting for a trade, selling various good such as hides and meat - this meant that Adermonre was regularly out of town for some time, which lead to a teenage Adermor having more leeway in Bree, with no father around to hold him to his limits.

As a gift for his 18th birthday, Adermor was given his first sword, the family sword - past down in generations since the second age of Middle-earth - by his father. Adermor felt a sense of authority and strength wielding the sword, and challenged the other noble sons that wielded a sword in a spar. Adermor would win all his spars - being a son of a former Gondorian guard, he was always going to be stronger than the other sons of traders. Eventually there came a day when Adermor got too big for his boots and challenged what he thought an "old man", how wrong he was. Adermor lost the spar, though the man he fought saw potential and took him in to his "society". A quick happening due to the fact that Adermor seeked something to do with his life, only the decision he made was the wrong one.

From there on Adermor was the mans right hand, and for many years on he would be young and foolish, Adermor got involved in fights alongside the man, conspired with the man and even on occasion stole with the man. Adermor's life had gone from good to bad, all because he was a fool with a sword. His family learned of Adermor's actions and left Bree in shame of what had become of their son. Adermor did not care at the time, enjoying his "work" too much. Adermor was not a killer or thief, simply a young fool looking for some adventure in his life. Becoming wary and suspicious of all, Adermor was reluctant to talk to those unknown to him - and those who knew him were reluctant to talk to him also.

Eventually, at the age of thirty-five, Adermor ceased to work alongside the man - though however he does remain friends with him, somewhat.. Returning to his home-land of Gondor, Adermor went looking for his mother and father though had no luck in finding them. Five years he looked before deciding he enjoyed travelling the lands of Gondor - and so decided to travel the lands of Eriador and beyond, since then Adermor has not looked back at his past, deciding to move on with his life, having learnt from his foolish mistakes.
