Reinforcements

Estarfin had suggested Parnard slept outside, under the lights of Tintallë. I first thought of the sea, the mantle of Ulmo, for defense.  A different Vala, but the same need for an ally whose will could not be challenged. Oh, I was angry then, at myself for not seeing clearly earlier; with the Sorceress Zairaphel and her petulant tenacity.

Of Visitors. Part One.

It was the afternoon of the fourth day when the first of our visitors arrived.

Healer

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story

I tell others I am a little old village healer. It is true. I am quite short for a son of the Noldor, I am older than most now, one born in the First Age, I have lived through a lot of sorrow. Sometimes I feel the weight of the years upon me and speak with my wife Alimiel about taking ship. Our son and his family, and our youngest daughter and her family are already in the Undying Lands. Our eldest daughter remains.

Broken

He lay on his back. His eyes would have been staring at the sky, if he could have opened them. One was already a swollen mess, mind-numbing pain shooting from it that he was sure he was blind. The other eye he could open just a crack, though he could not make out much of anything. His whole body ached and burnt with pain. He tried to focus his thoughts away from the pain to listen to the Men’s harsh voices and understand what they were arguing about.

So it seems I am Mistress of Numenstaya.

Not through any doing or grace of my own did this come about. I was simply in the right place at the right time.

And then, the day before the last of the festival, out of the morning mists walked Belegos.

"Just a fleeting visit," he told them "And to remind you I have my eye on you. Both eyes when I can."

He was warmly greeted, and asked how he was, and how his mission progressed. There was ever hope he would be free to spend some time at Numenstaya, but his three friends understood.

"Someone has to save Middle Earth," he said to them, with a grin, knowing all of them did their part when needed.

The Music Lesson - Part 2

What kind of Adventure is this?:
Story

The wood-elf Parnard had hardly ceased speaking when Estarfin urged his warhorse Gilastor forward, and Swan-Hoof followed closely out of the stable, both horses made excited by the Noldo’s fierce temper. They made their way down the hill, when suddenly in their path stepped Danel, and planted herself in the middle of the road.

“Lively neighbours you have,” Parnard observed to Danel. ”A spring morning is all laughter and sunshine here."

"They are merry folk and we need more merriment at this time, I deem. They even make me want to dance!” said Danel, and she began to tap her foot on the flagstones in time to the music. “Dance with me!” So commanded, Parnard bowed deeply from the waist, and springing lithely to her side, began to dance the careful, measured steps of a courtly dance.

((Reposted from several years ago. Part of the conversation between Estarfin and Danel, just before he lost his memory.))

“Happier days,” replied he, not giving an inch of ground, though his hands fell idle at his side.

“Happier days?” I echoed his words, unable to accept them as his answer. So it was I made my decision, and that to lower my own defense in an attempt to draw him forth.
